We are ‘in hibernation’……

Southern England is being buffeted by gale force winds and torrential rain, neither of which is good for dachshunds. We are now snuggled up under a pile of blankets, on the sofa and are determined to snooze through all the nasty weather.  What else can a dachsie  do?

We are back!

We are now back home after having to spend an extra day in prison because Mum’s return flight was cancelled, and she finally arrived over 24 hours late. 3 of us were well behaved, but one brother has let the side down by biting another prison inmate on the tail. The poor victim had to be taken to the vet…… The kennel staff said that they didn’t know who was the guilty one, but we all know who it was likely to be, don’t we?  All I will say is that it wasn’t me……

I was suffering from a touch of tummy trouble on my return home, but I am now recovering.  I have lost some weight, so Mum is feeding me an extra meal of scrambled eggs. So far no cheese topping, but I’m working on that…….

I am now back on track with the boy band, so its a case of ‘watch this space’…..

Our bag is packed, we’re (almost) ready to go……

Mum is off to New York for a week, and we are off to prison for the duration. Our bag has been packed (a new bag….. Anton redesigned the old one…..) and it meets with my approval. It is stuffed full of treats!  No cheese though, but I suppose we can’t have everything……

I will be working with the boys on their singing, so hopefully we will soon have the band ready for their first big tour. Hopefully Arrbee and Kinnon will be ready!

I’ll be back in 10 days time, after we have been sprung from prison.

We hear rumours…..

Mum has been spending a lot of time on the computer, looking at websites for flights, travel insurance and the like. Looks like she’s off on a trip…. and where are we going to go while she is away? Yes….. PRISON!  Is life fair?

Band update

My brothers have been very busy practising their singing, much to the annoyance of the neighbours. Just wait until they hone their percussion skills!  Hopefully Kinnon, the blond crooner, and Arrbee, our lead singer, have also been as busy.

We are all saving our pocket money so that the Band can cut their first CD, but it will be difficult not to blow the lot on some nice, mature cheddar…..

Do any of you have suggestions for songs?  They are learning ‘Hound dog’ at the moment….. any suggestions welcome.

Boy band update

The new boy band is taking shape. So far we have Anton and Otto as backing for Arrbee and Kinnon. Hopefully Kinnon’s Dad Chuck is helping Kinnon master the keyboards, and Arrbee is practising as many songs as he can.  Sunny and Maxy are in charge of security, and their sister Lucy has graciously agreed to take over publicity, and is going to organise a team of young ladies to sell souvenirs and programmes at each venue.  Addison is planning to launch a Fan Club and will be its first President.

Meanwhile Hughie is doing his best, trying to knock Anton and Otto into shape; they can certainly ’sing’ loud enough!  And what am I doing, I hear you ask? Well, I manage, of course!

My new venture

In order to increase my ‘cheese fund’, I have decided to put my brothers to work.  Considering the popularity of the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, I would like to announce the formation of a new boy band….fronted by my brothers Anton and Otto and  Arrbee from Iowa.  I have high hopes that they  will  take the world of wiener music by storm (and rake in a few pennies for my ‘cheese fund’).

At present Hughie is acting as voice coach and music teacher, helping Anton master the tambourine and Otto the drums.  Both will provide backing vocals for Arrbee, who is to be lead singer. He has, according to his mother Sandi,  a great line in ‘boofs’ (as opposed to ‘woofs’).  To be honest, my brothers still have a long way to go regarding their singing voices, but what they lack in tonal quality, they make up for with enthusiasm!

So far Sunny and his brother Maxy have been hired as ’security’ for the US tour , and their sister Lucy is taking charge of  publicity (hopefully - she hasn’t  agreed to that yet) and selling souvenirs and programmes at the band’s venues.  I will be, of course, acting as manager, but there are still a few vacancies, should any others wish to become part of this sensational venture.

The ‘working name’ of the band is currently ‘the Teckels’, but if anyone can come up with a better one, please feel free to make suggestions.

So…. all you dachsies, we are relying on all of you to make this foray into the world of pop music the success that it deserves to be.

Still can’t crack the problem

I have ’slept’ on my latest problem….. how to reach the fridge door handle.  Since my Mum has been on her diet (its really successful so far - anything she ‘can’t eat’ has found its way to us!), our cheese ration has all but disappeared. I suppose that she can’t face just having a tiny piece……  Now, I know for a fact that there MUST be loads of cheese still in there, and it needs liberating.  Urgently. We are all suffering from severe withdrawl symptoms.

So…. the problem is this….. how can I open the fridge, when I am a mere 8 inches tall and the handle is way out of my reach?

Answers please, before we all faint due to a lack of cheese!

Help needed

Hello everyone

My brothers and I Have a bit of a sticky problem, and maybe someone out there can give us some advice.  Our Mum has lost over 30lbs in weight since she started her most recent diet.  This has meant that she has eaten less of the things we love the best…. like cheese and liver sausage….so we are missing out on these delights. All we have had has been our doggy treats, and somehow they are not as nice as human food, are they?  Then we read that Kira has to lose some weight before she takes on motherhood….. and now our Mum has decided that we should help Kira by slimming down a bit ourselves. Luckily I am one of those chaps that can eat a mountain of cheese and not put on an ounce, so I won’t have to join my brother in the dachsie diet, but it looks like my treats ration is to be reduced, so as  not to be unfair to my brothers.

What is a chap to do? No cheese has been hard enough, but no treats either?  And what of poor Anton? So what if he’s a bit tubby and weighs a ton?  Winter is coming and he needs a bit of insulation, doesn’t he?  Hughie and Otto also have a bit of insulation, but nothing to worry about, so they are very upset about the reduction in chicken jerky (supplies are running low…. hint, hint) and doggy sausages.

Any advice on how we can survive this terrible treatment is most welcome.

Harry (suffering from a severe lack of cheese)

Brothers No. 2 and 3 - Anton and Otto

These two brothers arrived 2 years ago as irritating 9 week old babies. All they seemed to do when small was to eat, fight and get in everyone’s way.

Shortly after arrival, Anton started chewing everything, and he hasn’t stooped since. He also grew from a tiny little chap into a 30lb monster. I swear that he is still growing!  He’s a bit of a bully, due to his massive size, and there have been occasions where he hasn’t been submissive as he should have been, and I ended up at the vet’s being superglued back together again.  What chance does a lad like me, a mere 10lbs worth, when a 30lb monster decides to fight me? However, things have got better since he has an ‘operation’…. hee hee hee!

Otto is Anton’s litter brother, and luckily he is no where as big. He is everyone’s best friend and very sweet natured and gentle. Our (human) cousins keep saying that they want to kidnap him, but he is the only one I get on with, so maybe they would like to take the other two instead?  Otto is our hunter, having been well taught by Hughie. He also is our chief barker, and digger. A truly talented dachsie!

Anton and Otto

The picture shows them as babies, when at least I was still bigger than them!
